More Houston

I had a dream about this cool park. The toys were lots of fun and Denzil and I even went down a few of the slides. I don't know if he had as much fun as Sam but it was a great day to enjoy playing outside and having our picnic sandwiches from Lenny's.

This was a common occurrence after us driving around to the fun places. Lots of times all 3 kids were snoozing.
Enjoying a bit of the rodeo and the concert afterward of Lady Antabellum. I didn't really know their music but Kate sure had a great time dancing to the tunes.

Houston Trip

These 2 are part of the reason Denzil and I took our trip to Houston. We had tons of fun playing with Kate and Sam. We played some Duck, Duck, Goose, played at the park, went to the Alligator park, the Houston Rodeo, had a picnic together, went to the Blue Bell ice cream factory, and other fun things. Thanks for a great time!
This Gator sat like this for quite a while. He was in the same spot with his mouth open both times we past him. Does anyone know why they keep their mouth open and just sit there? I don't so if you can enlighten me that would be great.
These are some baby alligators. This park doesn't have fences and so the alligators can be right on the trail, just to the side in the brush, at the waters edge (which is only a couple feet from the path) or really they can go anywhere they like. Just a few feet from these babies was the mother alligator and on the other side of here were some other baby alligators, slightly bigger than these ones.

Tickle tickle

Oh my goodness, another picture?!

7 Months Old

This cute little boy is now 7 months old. He has been eating solids for the past month, somedays eating more than others. He eats rice cereal, sweet potatoes, carrots, and he just tried peas yesterday. He didn't seem to mind them but he hasn't been too into the solids the past few days. I don't know if that is because he has a cold but we'll keep doing what we are doing and I'm sure he'll get what he wants and needs nutrition wise. He has been a pretty good sleeper (except while I was on vacation in Houston). He usually sleeps about 10.5-11 hours a night, sometimes a little more than that. He loves to play in the tub with a yellow ducky. He isn't too fond of getting out and dried off and lotioned up but he can't stay in the tub all night long. He loves to talk and can go on for quite a while. He's pretty content to play with himself but loves to sing songs with me. He laughs when tickled and when Kris pretends to munch on him. He reaches for the book when we are singing hymns at church and reading stories at home. He is quite good at sitting by himself and he now gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth a bit. No crawling yet but I'm sure it's not to far out of the picture. We have really enjoyed the past 7 months and love watching him learn and grow. Denzil, We Love You!

NC Zoo

A couple weeks ago we took a little trip to the NC Zoo with some friends. This is what the back seat of a car looks like with three carseats in it. Good thing it's a big car. If you notice Denzil's eyes in this picture are kind of puffy. This was taken at the end of the trip after he cried and cried while being in the stroller. I would have held him but it was difficult trying to push the stroller and hold him. Oh well. He did well for the most part.

Abby and Grace-they sure are cute girls!

This is the kids watching the sea lions and seals swimming around in their tank. They were pretty active.

I just love this face!!

I never knew a kid could enjoy swinging so much. I like it for a few minutes and then I start to feel sick. Gotta love that smile;)

Sleeping

Isn't he just so cute! I thought I'd have to go turn him over every time he rolled to his tummy in the night. Well, we officially have a tummy sleeper now. He almost always rolls right to his tummy when I put him down for naps or night time.

Primates at the Zoo

Greenville Zoo

We ventured down to Greenville, SC last weekend to meet up with friends from Atlanta. We decided that the zoo would be a fun pick. It was a nice sunny day and fun to see a few animals. It's a small zoo so there were just a few animals but they didn't disappoint. This zoo had quite a few animals from Madagascar which was cool for me. They had a couple types of lemurs, the hissing cockroaches, some type of snake, and a turtle I think. Anyway, Denzil and I had a great time so here a few pics from the trip.

Denzil's second word??

Sorry that the video is of the back of his head but I didn't want him to stop talking when he saw me bring out the camera.

Swinging

On Saturday a group of us met at the park. I put Denzil in the swing there and he loved it! He was giggling the whole time and of course I didn't have the camera so Kris and I took advantage of the beautiful weather yesterday and walked to the park by us. Denzil was pleased as punch.
Except the slide was kind of lame. I basically had to push us down the whole way. Maybe I need to send this photo to the parks and rec department and they can see that even an infant thinks this slide needs improvement.

6 Months - Already??!

Well, time sure flies when you're having fun. Now that Denzil is 6 months old I'm amazed at how much he has grown in such a short time. He is such a cute kid and he can bring a smile to your face whenever he smiles and giggles. We are having so much fun watching him grow and learn new things. He is getting pretty darn good at sitting up by himself and he's getting better and better at rolling back and forth although last night he rolled onto his tummy and was not happy about it but quickly went back to sleep after I put him back on his back. He also did a 180 in his bed last night which also lead to him waking up. Maybe he gets that from me. I use to wake up quite often with my feet where my head was supposed to be and I know my siblings really liked that;). We are excited to see what the next few months, even weeks, have in store. It's amazing how quickly a child develops new skills.

1st "solid food" meal

In honor of Denzil's 6 month birthday we decided to start "solids." In one of the books I have it gave the measurements of how much rice cereal and milk to put together, but their description of "the consistency of cream of wheat" and what we had today were not the same. He seemed to enjoy it though. I think he'll be a great eater. He was a bit messy but he kept opening up for more. He really only gave us a funny look on the first 2 bites then he pretty much couldn't get enough.

Denzil's 1st word??

Valentine's Day

For our Valentine's date Kris made this delicious pizza and we watched the olympics until we could barely keep our eyes open. Probably about 10:30.
